BMW R1200/R1250 K5X Series bikes have a major failure point which is the stator which is responsible for charging the battery. The stators tend to burn out on those bikes which can happen at any time and will result in leaving you stranded on the side of the road, the non-shunting relay prevents that from happening by absorbing all the load that is imposed on the stator onto itself.
